The route starts at the Molino lifts (Falcade) and climbs up to Cima “Pradazzo”.
From here, the route leads to Col Margherita, passing by the “Laresei” Mountain Hut, with spectacular views of the Dolomites. After descending by cable car to San Pellegrino Pass, head towards Falcade to reach the “Flora Alpina” Hotel & Restaurant and take the dirt track towards “Somor”: take care on some steep and uneven sections, where it might be better to dismount. (*for less experienced cyclists, there is an easier alternative route towards “Valt”, passing through “Malga ai Lach”).
You’ll pass through the village of “Somor” and cycle along the famous ‘Sentiero delle Coste’ and the first section of the “Geological Trail” to the splendid “Sappade”, the charming ‘village of the sun’.
From here, continue along magnificent forest trails, passing through “Jore”, “Tegosa” and “Feder”, to “Forcella Lagazzon” and “Cogul”, among its splendid ancient “tabià”.
Climb towards “Forcella San Tomaso” before joining the famous “Dolomites in Miniature” route; we recommend the full circular route to admire the 19 dolomite rock replicas of the best-known Dolomite peaks. More experienced cyclists can reach the centre of San Tomaso Agordino via a challenging descent; alternatively, we recommend the descent to “Pianezze”. Descend to Avoscan and follow the old road to Alleghe, for the unmissable walk around the lake at the foot of Mount Civetta.
The route heads back towards Falcade, passing through Cencenighe Agordino via the village’s historic centre, and taking the cycle path to the left of the Galleria delle Anime. After 3 km, you reach Canale d’Agordo, the birthplace of Pope John Paul I; a stop to visit the village is recommended.
Continue along the dirt track to return to Falcade.
A comprehensive route combining adrenaline, spectacular scenery and authentic mountain settings.
A scenic and fairly challenging circular route linking the two valleys of Falcade and Alleghe via footpaths and dirt tracks with breathtaking views; it can be cycled in either direction.
An e-bike with a charger is recommended; consider completing the route over two days.
Once in Alleghe, for the more adventurous, it is possible to take the ski lifts up to Col dei Baldi, where several more challenging trails start, leading back down to Alleghe.
The route follows mixed-use trails that are also frequented by hikers. It is therefore recommended to maintain a moderate speed and always be mindful of other trail users.
