The “La VolatA”: The 2027 World Cup Challenge Starts Here

Col Margherita, however, isn’t just about taking in the views. For ski enthusiasts and adrenaline junkies, it’s the starting point of the spectacular black run “La VolatA”. This technical and fast course, over two kilometers long, was designed to host top-level competitions. Already the venue for the Women’s World Cup in 2021 and 2026, it will once again take center stage in 2027, with official downhill and super-G races scheduled for January 9 and 10 as part of the World Cup calendar.

Its turns, walls, and changes in gradient are designed to challenge even the most experienced athletes, with sections such as the Muro Alberto or the “Poet’s Walls” requiring both technical skill and courage. Throughout the year, Col Margherita also hosts training sessions for the Italian alpine skiing teams as part of the federation’s “Piste Azzurre” project, confirming the resort’s competitive spirit and the technical quality of the course.

The inclusion of the “La VolatA” thus reinforces Col Margherita’s sporting identity, making it an increasingly important hub for international alpine skiing.
