THE PATHS OF THE GREAT WAR
The excursions that set off from the arrival of the Costabella chairlift and from the mountain station of the Col Margherita cable car lift retrace the remains of the Great War and the bloody battles that took place between the Italian army and Austrian-Hungarian troops in the valley of Passo San Pellegrino.
On the Creste del Costabella and at the Alta via dei Monzoni as well as on Cima Bocche and Cima Juribrutto the war raged on uninterrupted from May 1915 to November 1917. Today these terrible battlefields have become an extraordinary open air museum which anyone can visit, with caves, trenches, fortresses, military outposts and lots of other well-preserved evidence of the conflict.
